It was a tough weekend for Thunder Basketball at home with consecutive losses on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder Men’s Basketball team lost 83-80 in a hard-fought overtime battle with Itasca on Saturday afternoon in Cloquet.
With 7 seconds left in regulation and the Thunder trailing by 3 points, Thunder forward Alex Walther deflected a long full court pass by Itasca and then Saivon Parker scooped up the loose ball and drilled a 3-pointer with the clock ticking down to send the game into overtime tied at 70. The Thunder continued to battle during overtime but couldn’t pull ahead in the end.
Saivon Parker led the Thunder stats with 32 points and 10 rebounds. Dwayne Saunders scored 16 points, Alex Walther pulled down 13 rebounds and scored 9 points.
Earlier in the weekend, the Thunder Men’s Basketball team lost 69-54 to Northland Community & Technical College at home on Friday evening. Saivon Parker led the Thunder scoring with 19 points, Raymond White scored 15 points, and Jessie Ellerbe added 10 points.
The Thunder host their final home game of the season on Wednesday, February 21, vs. Central Lakes College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Brigs Center Gym.
