Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College offers a short-term Paraprofessional Educator certificate. This program provides a range of training opportunities and offers flexibility designed to meet the needs of students.
The current job market indicates solid prospects for the future. Individuals possessing appropriate certifications and credentials can look forward to job opportunities. Statistics indicate that paraprofessional educators with more training and higher decrees earn significantly higher salaries and benefits than employees with less training.
The Paraprofessional Educator program is designed to meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act, providing students the opportunity to become employed in a variety of educational settings. School districts may have established local paraprofessional requirements, so students are advised to contact local school districts for specific educational requirements for paraprofessional educator positions.
The 30-credit certificate program is the quickest way to earn a paraprofessional educator credential. As an added benefit, the required certificate program courses are also the foundation of an associate-level degree. This short-tem certificate is a great starting point that can lead to many options.
Students who complete the certificate program may choose to continue in a two-year associate-level degree program and/or transfer to another institution to complete a four-year bachelors degree program. Students may continue their education by using the credits earned with their Paraprofessional Educator certificate and associate of arts degree to complete a baccalaureate degree in education, special education, or other related fields.
A student who completes the Paraprofessional Educator certificate might seek employment as an early childhood, elementary or secondary paraprofessional educator in a mainstream, Title I, or Special Education classroom or residential care facility.
Well-qualified faculty and the multi-cultural environment at the college offer opportunities that no other college can provide. An associate degree or certificate from Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College is greatly valued and respected by prospective employers.
For people who already have some college experience, it may be possible to complete the program in less time. Classes are offered during the day and evening hours, providing the opportunity to create a flexible schedule. Small class sizes, on-campus child care, and student organizations are added bonuses at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College.
