The course applies the rules from the law and safe food handling practices that will help you make and sell safe cottage food products in Minnesota. \nCourse topics \n\nFoodborne illness and pathogens of concern.\nType of foods allowed and not allowed.\nFood safety controls for use in food preservation and food preparation.\nSafe food handling practices.\nA thorough sanitation routine.\nPackaging and labeling requirements and best practices.\nFood safety during the sale of cottage foods.\n\nTier 2 cottage foods producers must complete this course before registering with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) and renew this training every 3 years. \nAfter completing the course\, you will receive a certificate of completion\, and then you will register or renew your cottage foods registration with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.

We would like to invite you to meet\, share and network with others that grow food\, or that promote healthy\, nutritious food accessibility. In addition\, representatives will learn about Anishinaabe cultural traditions\, language\, and best practices of taking care of the land and community directly from community members. \nFriday\, September 5th\, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Fond du Lac Gitigaaning and Na’enimonigamig (964 Cary Road Cloquet\, MN). The Indigenous Food Gathering is intended to bring together people working in food sovereignty\, including traditional harvesters\, growers\, ranchers\, and producers.
