Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College and the Minnesota State Arts Board are co-hosting a grant writing best practices workshop at the college for the Artist Initiative grant program. The workshop is set for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, in the Amphitheater and Commons on campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Arts Board program officer Sherrie Fernandez-Williams will guide participants in a hands-on, interactive workshop, focusing on the Artist Initiative grant program. An informative and educational learning experience, participants can expect to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Artist Initiative grant criteria and eligibility requirements. Attendees will also have the opportunity to work in small groups to practice the skill of grant writing.
Fernandez-Williams will be joined by Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College faculty Lyz Jaakola and Duluth Art Institute executive director Christina Woods. The workshop is designed to be interactive, providing participants with the space to learn from the shared wisdom of fellow artists, and the opportunity to support one another through the process. The goal is to help participants gain the confidence and a comprehensive understanding of the program to ultimately develop a successful grant proposal.
Drew Digby, executive director of the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, will also make a brief presentation and be available for questions.
The Artist Initiative grant program supports and assists professional Minnesota artists at various stages of their careers through encouraging artistic development, helping artists gain visibility with audiences, and strengthening career and professional skills.
