Food for Thought – A Tasting Event, hosted by the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College (FDLTCC) Foundation returns Thursday, January 19, 2023. This will be the 10th annual Food for Thought hosted by the FDLTCC Foundation and the first hosted in person since the start of COVID-19.  Food for Thought will be an exciting fundraising evening featuring beverage and food tasting benefiting student scholarships. For more information, visit https://fdltcc.edu/event/food-for-thought/.

Food for Thought is a tasting event where area businesses offer food specialties for guests to sample. Approximately 15 local vendors have volunteered to provide samples of their signature food and beverage specialties, including: Bearaboo Coffee, Carmen’s, Chef’s Marketplace, Cold One Liquor, Common Grounds, Holy Smokes, Mom’s Best Baklava, Papa Murphy’s, Room at the Table, Route 61 Lounge and Bowling, Streetcar Kitchen & Pub, and Trapper Pete’s.

“Food for Thought is such a fun event!” shared FDLTCC Foundation Chair, Kate Mason, “It started 10 years ago and has grown in to a community favorite! We’re so excited to bring it back in person this year after COVID.”

“The best part of this event is seeing how it benefits our community and students through the Foundation’s scholarships,” continued Mason, “These scholarships make a difference in students’ lives, in turn making a difference in our community.”

Everyone attending the Food for Thought can vote for their favorite food and dessert presented during the evening. The Golden Spoon Award and Silver Spoon Dessert Award are based on the popular vote held during the event and the coveted awards are presented to the vendors at the end of the evening.

A highlight of the Food for Thought event is the Wall of Wine featuring beverages generously donated by Cold One Liquor. This year’s event will also feature beer selections. For a donation of $20, guests select a random bottle of wine or pack of beer and an envelope containing a gift card ranging in value from $10 to $50 donated from an area business. In past years, the 100-bottle Wall of Wine sold out quickly, proving to be popular among event guests.

Other fundraising activities during the event include a silent auction and raffle for donated high-value prizes. Like past years, local radio celebrity Kerry Rodd will serve as master of ceremonies.

Tickets for the 2023 Food for Thought – A Tasting Event can be purchased at the FDLTCC Business Office or from Foundation Board members. Tickets cost $25 per person in advance, and $30 per person at the door on the day of the event. FDLTCC Foundation board members encourage purchasing tickets in advance before they sell out.

Special thanks to the FDLTCC students that help so much with the event from setup, dishwashing, cleanup and more!

Testimonials

I chose FDLTCC because of its size and the curriculum. When I first came here in 2019, I was just looking for what I needed to volunteer, perhaps in a crisis shelter. I met with Don Jarvinen, and the rest is history.

It is awesome here at the FDLTCC Education Program because it is like a family here, if you need help or are struggling with anything, you have quite a few people who will help you out.

My favorite thing about FDLTCC is the people. I’ve met fantastic students, faculty and staff who go above and beyond what I expected.
