Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder Football student athlete Trebian Suggs was named Minnesota College Athletic Conference Eastern Division Special Teams Player of the Week for the final regular season games played on October 20, 2018.
Suggs had four kickoff returns in the Thunder’s 48-26 loss to Dakota College-Bottineau this past Saturday in Duluth. He scored a touchdown on one of his returns and averaged 32.0 yards per return on special teams.
Trebian, a running back, also rushed for 101 yards plus he threw for 206 yards passing with three touchdowns as an emergency back-up quarterback after the Thunder’s starting quarterback was injured. Suggs is a freshman from Pine Forest High School in Pensacola, FL.
This week’s honor for Suggs is his second MCAC Player of the Week honor this season. Trebian was named Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Week during the second week of the season in a come-from-behind 33-26 Thunder victory at MCAC Western Division opponent Northland Community and Technical College.
Other notable performances in this past week’s game for the Thunder included receiver Keenan Brown with six catches for 129 yards, and receiver La Darin McAllister had a 71-yard touchdown grab. Linebacker Cedrick King had an interception and led the Thunder in tackles with 10. Defensive backs Dante Jones and KeAndre Smith had pass break-ups playing in the Thunder secondary.
The 2018 Thunder Football team’s quick 3-0 start at the beginning of the season was enough to get the squad back to the MCAC postseason playoffs. Despite losing their final five games, which included heartbreaking losses in the final minute at Vermilion and to Mesabi Range, the Thunder earned the fourth seed in the Eastern Division. The Thunder travel to Brainerd this Sunday, October 28, when they play top-seeded Central Lakes College at 1:30 p.m.
