The 5th Annual Ojibwe Language Symposium is free to everyone, and registration is open through the start of the event on Friday, February 2. Like previous years, the event will offer two strands of language learning: an emergent level for beginning speakers, and an immersive level for practitioners, and fluent speakers.

“The Ojibwe Language Symposium is a collaborative event hosted by the Fond du Lac Band and Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College,” shared Roxanne DeLille, FDLTCC Dean of Indigenous and Academic Affairs, “The event highlights local and regional language restoration and revitalization efforts by bringing in master and apprentice language warriors with the most up-to-date language practices and resources.”

Keynote presenters for the 5th Annual Ojibwe Language Symposium include: Niibaa-gaabaw (Dave Aubid), Waawaakeyaash (Keller Paap), Miigizi, Michael D. Sullivan Sr., PhD., and Westin Sutherland.  For a full list of presenters and other information, please visit: https://fdltcc.edu/event/ojibwe-language-symposium-5th-annual/ or contact Roxanne DeLille at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College at roxanned*AT*fdltcc.edu.

Testimonials

I chose FDLTCC because of its size and the curriculum. When I first came here in 2019, I was just looking for what I needed to volunteer, perhaps in a crisis shelter. I met with Don Jarvinen, and the rest is history.

It is awesome here at the FDLTCC Education Program because it is like a family here, if you need help or are struggling with anything, you have quite a few people who will help you out.

My favorite thing about FDLTCC is the people. I’ve met fantastic students, faculty and staff who go above and beyond what I expected.
