The second annual Food for Thought: A Tasting Event at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College is set for Thursday, January 22, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the campus commons and amphitheater. The event is sponsored by the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community Foundation as a major fundraiser for the student scholarship fund.
Food for Thought is a tasting event where area businesses offer food specialties for guests to sample. Approximately 25 local vendors have volunteered to provide samples of their signature food and beverage specialties, including: New Scenic Café, The Exchange, Green Mill, Whole Foods Co-op Deli, Streetcar, Jim & Jo’s, Cold One Liquor, Warming House, Family Tradition, Casey’s Bakery, Trapper Pete’s, Carmen’s, Super One, Taco John’s, Seven Fires Steakhouse, Valentini’s, Duluth Grill, Baklava, Big Daddy Chicken Fingers, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Mont du Lac Catering, The Avenue, and Famous Dave’s.
“Our Foundation is excited to sponsor this great social event while raising monies for students in need,” said Barb Wyman, Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Foundation Board Chair. “It is a truly humbling experience to realize how even a small scholarship can completely change the course of a student’s life.”
A highlight of last’s years Food for Thought event returns, the Wall of Wine. For a donation of $20, guests select a random bottle of wine and a gift basket or envelope containing a gift card ranging in value from $10 to $40 from an area business. The Wall of Wine sold out last year, proving to be popular among event guests.
Another fundraising activity during the event will be a live auction for high-value items, including a two-night stay at Big Sandy Lodge with two rounds of golf at Minnesota National Golf Course and $150 restaurant gift card; a one-night stay at Fitger’s Inn; an iPad Mini; gas cards to the Little Stores; and The Minnesota Experience for local recreation items and activities.
A new activity at the event his year will be a unique Fund-A-Student auction, which raises money for student tuition.
Tickets may be purchased at the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Business Office Service Window or from Foundation Board Members. The cost is $20 per ticket, per person. Foundation Board members encourage purchasing tickets in advance, as last year’s event sold out in advance and tickets are selling quickly again this year.

Testimonials

It is awesome here at the FDLTCC Education Program because it is like a family here, if you need help or are struggling with anything, you have quite a few people who will help you out.

My favorite thing about FDLTCC is the people. I’ve met fantastic students, faculty and staff who go above and beyond what I expected.

I chose FDLTCC because of its size and the curriculum. When I first came here in 2019, I was just looking for what I needed to volunteer, perhaps in a crisis shelter. I met with Don Jarvinen, and the rest is history.
