Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder wide receiver Damon Barnes was named Minnesota College Athletic Conference Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Week for games played on October 16-17, 2015.
As a primary target in the Thunder offensive attack, Barnes caught seven passes for 183 yards and one touchdown in the Thunder’s exciting come-from-behind 36-28 victory over Minnesota West on Friday evening, October 16. He also caught a two-point conversion pass after a Thunder touchdown in the fourth quarter. Barnes is a sophomore from Baltimore, MD, and is a graduate of Edmondson-Westside High School.
The 2015 Thunder Football team finished the regular season at 4-4 and finished in fourth place in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Eastern Division. The Thunder travel to Rochester to play at MCAC Eastern Division top-seed and the number two ranked team in the country, Rochester Technical and Community College, at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, in a Quarterfinal MCAC Playoff game. It is the third consecutive year the Thunder have earned a postseason playoff berth.
The Minnesota College Athletic Conference is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The football conference includes 12 teams which are divided geographically into Eastern and Western Divisions.
